Realising the CRPD through the Disability Reform Agenda – a roadmap for social transformation

Session

Presentation Description

One year after the Disability Royal Commission released its final report and recommendations, in a pre-recorded video, former Disability Royal Commissioner Alastair McEwin will share his reflections on the recommendations from the Commission and the importance of transforming mainstream settings to be inclusive of disabled people.

Rosemary Kayess, Disability Discrimination Commissioner and Vice Chair of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, will share her views on applying a rights-based approach to the disability reform agenda. Commissioner Kayess will explore how the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) provides the roadmap to drive social transformation and to re-imagine how we understand and respond to disability.
